God Save Our Leaking Roof 16 April 2014:
This delightful revue written and directed by club member David Butler Cole was full of comedy and music. The Gala Night was supported by the Silves Rotary Club and guests enjoyed drinks and canapés prior to the performance. 100 guests gathered at the Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório in Silves and enjoyed an evening of laughter and fun. Guests also had an opportunity to view paintings and art by BJ Boulter and David Trubshaw. The students of Silves Sul served the guests with their usual style, making the evening one to remember. The Gala night raised €1522. The money raised goes to Castelo de Sonhos, one of our favourite beneficiaries.
∞Mexican Train
Easy to Learn and fun to play. One of the most popular domino games played in the world today. We will be holding a Mexican Train event at the Holiday Inn on 3 February at 15:00. Each player plays a chain of dominoes called a train; they may also play on the common chain called the Mexican Train. The player with the lowest points score at the end of the game wins. There are many events along the way that block the trains and make for an exciting game. Bring friends and join visitors to the Holiday Inn for some fun. A minimum donation of €5 is requested for a Mobile Breast Screening Unit for Associação Oncológica do Algarve. Email: info.rotarysilves@gmail.com
Cake Glorious Cake
The Rotary Club of Silves Coffee & Cake morning at the home of Felicity Thoet in Alvor on 15 January was a resounding success. Thirty people enjoyed coffee and cake donated by Rotarians and friends with many purchasing the remainder to take home for tea. It was a lovely opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. With donations, cake purchases and a cheeky game of Heads and Tails, €250 euros was raised in aid of Castelo dos Sonhos. Thanks must go to Felicity for the use of her home and to all the cake bakers who made this event possible.
More Coffee and Cake Mornings are planned.
