An excited group of students and teachers gathered at Faro airport on friday to depart on their Oscar adventure in the UK. The students are part of the film and digital media project at Silves Sul School and movies have been entered into the Oscars at Wildern School in Southampton. Six films have been shortlisted and the group will find out whose has been chosen as Best International Film at the Wildern School’s Oscar ceremony on Monday 11 July. The event is well known in the UK and this is the third time that students from Silves Sul have submitted entries. Past President of RC Silves, Alan Winn is accompanying the students and will be awarding the Oscar for Best Animation. Silves Rotary Club has raised funds to enable this student and teacher exchange and support for the Silves Sul Oscars.
The students will stay with English families and experience English home life. They have a full itinerary activities which includes joining their exchange partners in lessons at Wildern School. The group returns in 6 days with an Oscar we hope! We will be posting pictures here of their trip as they are received.
The first day is getting to know you day. But as the weather was not too good all the activities were inside. The students and their hosts were given a lesson in cooking traditional UK dishes which were consumed for lunch.
Lunch was followed by archery. Robin Hood eat your heart out…..
A day with the families on Sunday and then school and the Oscar ceremony.
