Amendoeira Golf Day Success
15 June 2014 Charity Golf Tournament Amendoeira Golf Resort:
The golf day at the fabulous Amendoeira Golf Resort took place on the hottest day of the year so far, however, that did not prevent golfers of all abilities turning in some very good scores on the difficult Faldo course. Comments from golfers included “a great day for a good cause” as they tucked into a very nice lunch in the clubhouse after the game. Although with fewer numbers than expected a very respectable €1800 was raised to be used to help the Oncology Association of the Algarve with their cancer prevention programme. Grateful thanks to all who helped organise the event and those too who took part.
Looking forward to next year!

The morning was in aid of Madrugada*. Silves Rotary members and Guests enjoyed a glass of Buck’s Fizz, coffee and of course slices of delicious cakes and pastries, whilst raising money for this deserving project. The members of the ensemble , Julia Bremm (flute) , Louise Rummel (oboe) , Yousef Eisa ( clarinet), Olivia Comparot (bassoon) and Anna Katharina Swartman ( horn ), are all still studying with renowned professors in their field and are currently working in various German orchestras . Christmas Walk
Christmas Walk 2013
Walkers gathered at Paderne to enjoy a lovely walk in the sunshine. A wonderful way to start the festive season joining with friends in stroll around our beautiful Portuguese countryside whilst supporting charities in Loulé and Silves who do an amazing job collecting and distributing food around the needy of the Algarve.
The walk was a gentle 6kms in length on tarmac roads, tracks and paths. During the walk we visited, Paderne’s Moorish Castle on its promontory overlooking the Ribeira de Quarteira together with an ancient Roman bridge, the remains of a water mill and a well preserved bee-hive faggot oven. The walk started at the Public Laundry “Antigo Lavadouro Publico Paderne”and was followed by a traditional Portuguese lunch at Paraiso do Algarve.
Walkers suggested to get together again in the Spring when the spring flowers and orchids will be at their best.
